If I go through BAM / My projects / Gridcoin Finance and add the project to any/all of my hosts, it will add it to each host but it won't work. I will get the following:

"04/01/2016 18:33:13 | Gridcoin Finance | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks"
"04/01/2016 18:33:13 | Gridcoin Finance | Invalid or missing account key. To fix, remove and add this project ."

Removing and re-adding or resetting made no difference. No matter how many times/hosts I try this with it appears to be totally consistent. Whilst adding removing other projects works beautifully.
I found some advice on the Gridcoin forum which said to detach all hosts via BAM, and then manually add them on each host and it would work. This did indeed work for me.

If you have joined Gridcoin Finance before November 1st, then your account there is probably lost during a recent harddisk crash with no decent backup that project suffered. See http://finance.gridcoin.us/finance/forum_thread.php?id=2868&postid=2986#2986. It might be that BAM! already had that login information and is trying to get you connect to it with that.

See my experience at https://boincstats.com/en/forum/10/10544,1 and how I dealth with it. If what you are seeing is what I went through, it might help you.

The solution to fix all hosts from all users is to detach them all, then reattach them, but there is no easy way to do that. If the project would've changed it's url it would be a easy job.

I can update all hosts to a bogus url and change it back however, to reach all hosts this bogus url would have to be used for at least 24 hours. Which would mean in that 24 hours all hosts will detach from GF and get no work. Then, after 24 hours, I change the URL back and all hosts will attach again. It will also affect hosts that are already fixed. It will leave all the hosts which were off during the 24h with a wrong account key.

Is that acceptable?

You have a list of hosts that are attached to Gridcoin, therefore you know the users, and you have an email address for each such user. Maybe you can send an actual email to those (bcc'd) users explaining this, giving a UTC start & finish date/time of the 24 (or maybe 30, just to give it a little buffer) hour window starting in, say, 3 days. This way, people who are not reading this board won't be surprised why they are disconnected from the project, can actually say NoNewTasks on the current project (if they are already a fixed host) so that their in progress tasks will drain, etc. And, you won't get many "what is wrong" messages here on the board. Afterwards, I'd say it is fair.

Hello,

Gridcoin Finance is saying it will be removed once tasks are complete in BOINC. Is there a way to remove this? I already readded the project and it is working fine.

Thanks.

You've got an email today explaining why this happens.

For those who did not read the email:
What I wrote:
Dear BAM! user,

You have attached one or more hosts to Gridcoin Finance (GF) through BAM!. Recently GF had a database corruption which resulted in the loss of user and host data. A side effect of this is that all hosts already attached to GF will no longer communicate with the project and give the following error: "Invalid or missing account key. To fix, remove and add this project".

There is no easy and quick way to fix this through BAM! so the following will be done to fix the problem:
* The url for GF in BAM! will be added to the retired project list. This will detach your hosts from GF.
* Hosts will try to reconnect to the same url but will be detached immediately if the hosts has no workunits from GF.
* To allow all hosts to detach the project will be listed as retired for one day.
* After one day, the url will be removed from the retired list. Hosts will now correctly attach to GF.

Some issues:
* This will also detach hosts which were manually fixed by the owner or were newly attached after the GF problems, unless they have workunits from GF
* Hosts which will not connect with BAM! during the next 24 hours will not receive the fix. If you have such a host, do the following:
- detach the host from GF via BAM!
- let the host sync with BAM!
- reattach the host to GF via BAM!
- let the host sync with BAM!

Will they be readded automatically after a day of being removed?

Can't edit my old post, but I allowed the projects to get removed and they reattached fine afterwards. Then the same message appeared again. I went and manually detached all hosts on BAM! and allowed them to sync on their own and reattach them again once they synced. The issue still persists.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

There was nothing for you to do. Willy had already described what will happen at the end of the 24hrs, automatically.

Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the problem on it's own.

Because the project has reset it's database the authenticator at the project differs from the one that BAM! already has. There is only one way to solve this and that is to re-register the project in BAM! and after that re-attach the host.

I'm going to remove the registrations for GF from the database and after that everybody should re-register, detach their hosts and re-attach.

I will not repeat the trick with the automatic detach-attach for hosts because of the need to re-register.
