The technology, called Cop Dots, is an adhesive containing thousands of tiny dots, each about the size of a grain of sand. Each dot has a unique number laser-engraved on it, a design compared to the unique makeup of human DNA.

A single pen applicator can put the code on up to 50 pieces of your property, such as electronics or other items around your home. Users can then register their items into a database.

If local police uncover a stolen item, they can track the dots using detection kits with special forensic lighting to find the dots, and find the true owner.

Interesting Watched the video on the site as I was curious how much the detection kits were and it said the the detection kits are free to law enforcement agencies.
