Hi,

I am allowed to use BOINC at work, but the guys from IT are going nuts now, because BOINC is spamming the mail server. They say emails are send to boinc@localhost and the mail server don't know such an address.

Email content is something like this:

Code:
Cron <boinc@localhost> touch /var/lib/boinc/shared/heartbeat

Is there a way to disable those weird emails? Because if I find no way to disable Mails over SMTP, I will lose a good cruncher, which runs 24h a day

Please help me keep this cruncher alive.

I couldn't find a simple solution for weeks.

The only way would be to set up an operating system in a virtual machine, which starts a vpn connection outsite the company and send its emails without the it guys knowing it. But this is a lot of work for a boinc client.

Isn't there a simple way to deactivate emails from boinc?

Thank you for your help

I'm just guessing here:
Could it be because boinc runs as a daemon, and that it sends service "mails" to that address?
Similar to the way that root gets service mails to its account.

I admit I don't have any mails from my boinc daemon myself, it could also be because I don't have a mail server running on my hosts.
But I sadly don't know if your boinc mails can be deactivated. It's to do with the service, that is my guess.
