Last official message from the admin dates back to april 28th.

Looks like a lot of render sessions are queued but not accepted: http://www.renderfarm.fi/#/sessionsPending

I haven´t really contributed much to that project but always thought of it as being quite nice and something different.

I'd say that admin responsiveness was pretty low before that, we've had long periods of no news and piling up rendering queues with them. Unfortunately, I think it's time to throw the hat in on this one. It's really too bad, apparently they got quite a bit of publicity in the Blender community, as is represented by the large number of sessions that were/are still being submitted for rendering as compared to its cousin/grandfather project, BURP.

Speaking of which, anyone interested in the services Renderfarm had to offer (or would like to volunteer your hosts) should really check out BURP. Although it's basically run by one man and not an educational institution, Janus has always been reasonably quick to take care of things and respond to user input. In fact, as far as I can tell, he's been running the entire thing out of his own pocket as the donation links have been dead for some time and he's ignored any queries/requests to make donations.

Any thoughts on retiring Renderfarm? I really think it´s dead.

The website has been completely down since mid-December, even when it was "up" there really hadn't been much going on for a couple of years. While they inherited/adopted a good system from BURP in the beginning, I think they got a little ambitious and really bit off more than they could chew when they tried to completely redesign the thing after the server crash. They should have focused on restoring functionality, and then work on any major upgrades/changes alongside doing the rendering.

I agree Tom and second that motion. Get rid of the Project and put it in the Retired Category. It is obvious they are not interested in BOINC. Why as Volunteers are we subjected to waste our time searching these individual sites to find out what is going on when there is obviously no activity for months and to make it worst the Admins obviously do not care for they are saying nothing.

On a side note, yet related, I would like to know why are we still showing ABC@Home as an active project. I realize that it has nothing to do with Renderfarm but surely we should be told what is the policy in BOINCStats in retiring a project. This is not just about Renderfarm.fi or ABC but it bags a question of policy. Others and I have pointed out that in two days time ABC would have reached a 12 months stage in which time they have not exported stats and have not shown any activity since that time despite the fact that the website is still on line but is not managed by anybody.. The project Admins email bounces to say that the account have been deleted. Dr Anderson personally deleted the project from the validated list and it is also deleted in the known list of BOINC Projects.

Willy, I understand that your time is limited to maintain this site, but surely, we should know what is your policy on Active/Retired Projects. When will you add or delete a project. As a user, I am tired of wasting time also checking these sites everyday for although I am retired, it is not so much the time to do so but the waste of Electricity that costs me to perform these activities. Please ask for help to maintain your site for surely there must be people out there that can handle the situation. For example, tell me what to do (even if I have to learn it how to do) and I would be willing to to look after the Active/Retired list of project. As it is, you are lagging behind other Stats sites. You are welcome to PM me.

Hi everybody,

My Retired ABC@Home credits are there, but not the Renderfarm ones? Not big loss but wondering why

Wrong thread to be asking that. However, mine are showing under my account. It could be a CPID problem. Best to ask in the correct forums so people know you need a fix.
