This is one of my pet hates. It is unfair to start a project on invitation only. I am sure that in time they will open it to the public but in the meantime those with an invitation card will secure the top positions which the rest of us might never catch up. A fair go please...

Have you bothered trying to contact the admin to request an invite code? That is what I did. Feel free to take a bit of initiative before judging. Not every project can support the masses at launch nor should they. They should work out the bugs first. I appreciate the projects with this kind of foresight.

Regardless, I think "invite only" would preclude the project having a "public" designation.

Yes, strictly speaking, this is true. However we have very good reasons, by now, to limit the number of participating people. Science first, we are working to set up a good 'feeding' system, something like a 'virtual lab', there is a lot of pre- and post-processing to be done (boinc sits in the middle) in our project and our staff is limited. Another problem is our server, which, by now, is just a virtual machine with limited resources, it will take some time before we can move it to a reliable and powerful one (as usual, money and bureaucracy).

BTW, If someone want an invitation code, just find me on the boinc project I participate and send me a PM.
