BOINCstats: Currently in database: ... Countries 942 !? Guess this too much for Earth
Guest

That's the sum of all countries in all the projects

hmm, maybe they just want to support their own stats feature? Available from Boinc Ver 4.40 and above...

...if you type less about stats, there is more CPU-power to use for BOINC, so you will get higher stats...

LOL @ Frederique !!

An ET told me that they are in control of the stats and that the signals we are transmitting are so confusing they sometimes get a little lost

OK - I'll quit complaining about the stats. 192 Ghz now pulled off SETI BOINC... There - no need to worry anymore...

My new group is at Total credit 7,180.97 and Recent average credit 506.94. Why stats still report Total 1815 and rac 158???? It's not updated since a week!!!

Another day wifout Seti credits. *sighs* My graphs look like an Egyptian sand dancer on speed :-(

So you'd rather waste the CPU cycles than donate them to a project that's so overloaded with things to do that the stats get updated weekly instead of daily? Congratulations, I think you just became the Selfish Bastard of the Week.

@ziggie, I wish seti would fix their HDD so the XML files will fit and get them working properly

Grenadier, I think you are in fault. If a person donate it for growing up in the statistics I think there's nothing to blame. You should think before saying nonsenses!

If your only reason to run BOINC is for the stats, that is by definition a selfish act. You're not really donating at that point. You're expecting payment in the form of stat updates.

I rune Seti for the greater good, and the competitve side of me loves the stats, it is an added benifit to a great dedication from users.

Why are you so aggressive? IMHO the projects CPDN, predictor and even LHC and Einstein are less "sexy" but more useful then SETI, and donating the capacity to them is not wasting it. And everyone who reads this visits this site because he cares for the stats.

Grenadier, I think that stats contribute to increase interest in the people. The person that runs boinc for increase his stats is not different from you because contributes - AS YOU - to develop some important projects. We are working without receive a money. So a person can be happy for RAC that's increasing??? It's not selfishness! You are free to contribute without receiving nothing, but let free the users compete!

@Grenadier: What's better for science in the long run? No "selfish" people doing this? I don't think scientific results care all that much about the motivation that produced them and whether or not the time was “donated.”

My point was that quitting because the stats haven't updated is a selfish, impatient act. Of course the science doesn't care what the motivation is, but if people are quitting over the lack of stats, then the science will suffer.

Nevertheless, it's annoying, and if this issue isn't fixed soon, people will start to drift away.

I agree with you, people must not quit because stats are not updated, but you can consider that some person cannot leave their computing capacity without getting nothing at all...

@Justice: Getting nothing at all is right. I'm not talking about the stats though. I'm talking about signal canidates. Berkley hasn't shared any findings in years! That's what this is for and why I'm cruching. Show the fruits of my systems hard work!
