BAM

Welcome to the BOINC Account Manager (BAM!)

BAM assists you in creating and managing your BOINC project accounts and helps you with setting preferences, joining or creating teams, connecting your computers to projects, and many more.

Whether you're a new or an existing BOINC user, BAM will help you get the most out of BOINC.

If you are new to BOINC, you can start BOINC right here and create your BAM account. Just enter your information on the registration page and after activating the account you can start with selecting the projects you want to support. The account information you use for BAM will be used to create accounts for you at your chosen projects.
Download the BOINC software (necessary) from here, install it and attach it to BAM (instructions). You are into science now!
A step by step instruction is at the bottom of this page.

If you are an existing user then the projects where you already have an account will be imported into BAM when you create a BAM account. These projects can now be managed from BAM (like setting preferences or resource shares). You can attach your existing hosts to BAM (instructions) and control them from BAM.

These are the most important differences between using BOINC with or without BAM:
With BAMWithout BAM
Join projects from one single page with 2 clicksJoin a project by going to the projects site and sign up, or by attaching to it from the BOINC Manager
Change your account details for all projects from one single pageChange your account details by going to the websites of the projects
Set resource shares for all projects from one single pageResource shares must be set at every project seperately
Create, join or quit teams in all projects from one single pageCreate, join or quit teams by going to the websites of the projects
Attach your hosts to projects from where you are nowYou have to go to the host itself to attach it to a client or be able to remote control it over a network
Change host venues for all projects from one single pageChange your host venue by going to the websites of the projects
Stats updates by SMSNo SMS service
Customize BOINCstats, posting in the shoutbox, direct links to your detailed stats and hostsNone of this

Step by step setup instructions:

  1. Create a BAM account here.

  2. Wait for the activation mail, and activate your account.

  3. Login to BAM (the login box is at the top-right of this page).

  4. Goto "Sign-up for projects" in the BAM menu and select the projects you want to join ("Create account"), then click "Start".
(This step is optional if you already joined a project)

  5. Goto "Resources" in the BAM menu and select the projects that you want all your new hosts to attach to ("Default attach") and click "Update".

  6. Download a BOINC client. Links to the latest versions are here.
(This step is optional if you already have a 5.4.x client installed)

  7. Install and run the downloaded BOINC client.
(This step is optional if you already have a 5.4.x client installed)

  8. Attach the BOINC client to BAM. The instructions are here.

  9. The client will make two connections to BAM. It will connect to all projects that are set to default attach.

  10. Done! There are more options in BAM to fine-tune settings and hosts. Browse around and read the F.A.Q. for details.

Not all projects have full support for BAM yet. Check the supported project page to see what works, and what doesn't.
